From Kaufmann-Mercantile comes today’s story about titanium. This short blog relates the history of this amazing metal, which has all the strength of steel, but weighs half as much. Titanium is so light and strong it is used to make spacecraft. It is so resistant to corrosion that submersibles that travel four miles to the ocean floor are made of it.
Titanium is also highly biocompatible, and is used to make all manner of braces, screws, joint replacements and even heart valves.
