On the 70th anniversary of D-Day, here is a wonderful article from the National Archives about the soldiers of World War II and their animal companions.

Some 20,000 dogs served with our armed forces, along with horses and mules, in every zone of combat from the islands of the Philippines to the shores of Normandy.
